Woodlands vs Pet Paradise Amelia: Small Facility or Full Resort?

Flat published pricing compared with tiered, seasonal resort rates

Pet Paradise Amelia in Yulee is the closest thing to a full‑service pet resort in this area: boarding, day camp, grooming, dog training and veterinary care through a partner practice, all on one site, as part of a chain with locations across several states. Woodlands is the opposite end of the scale, a small owner‑operated boarding facility in St. Marys with private suites.

This comparison is genuinely useful because the two are not really competing on the same thing. One offers breadth of services and infrastructure. The other offers a small, quiet environment where the same person handles your dog every stay. Cost structure differs too, and that is worth understanding before a holiday booking.

What Pet Paradise publishes about pricing

Pet Paradise Amelia uses tiered room types and seasonal pricing rather than a single flat nightly rate, and directs customers to a seasonal pricing page for current figures. Because the rate depends on room tier and date, we are not going to quote a nightly number for them. Get a quote for your specific dates directly.

They do publish their peak‑period policy clearly, and it is the part most likely to affect your total. For stays over Thanksgiving (Nov 25 to Dec 1) and Christmas (Dec 20 to Jan 1) their site states a 3‑night minimum, a $10 per‑pet, per‑night peak rate and a $100 deposit.

Woodlands has no deposit, no cancellation fee, no holiday surcharge and no minimum stay, including at Christmas. If you are pricing a holiday trip, run the maths on both: a short holiday stay with a minimum‑night requirement and a peak surcharge can total quite differently from the same nights here. Our full rate sheet is on the rates page, and the stay builder gives you an itemised estimate for your own dates.

Everything under one roof, or one person who knows your dog

Pet Paradise's real advantage is breadth. If your dog needs boarding, a groom, a training session and a vaccination update, being able to arrange all of it at one address is genuinely valuable, and having veterinary care on site is reassuring in a way we cannot match. We transport to Robinson's Animal Hospital in Yulee in an emergency, which is a plan rather than a clinic down the hall.

What a small facility offers instead is continuity. The same person cares for your dog every visit, remembers that they will not eat the first morning, or that they need the quieter suite. There is no shift rotation and no front desk to explain your dog to again. For some owners that is worth more than amenities; for others it is not. Both are legitimate.

A note on intact dogs and group play

One published detail worth knowing if it applies to you: Pet Paradise directs dogs over six months that are not spayed or neutered, or that do not play well with other dogs, to their one‑on‑one rates rather than group socialisation. That is a sensible policy for a group‑play facility, and it is transparent of them to publish it.

At Woodlands the question does not arise in the same way, because no dog is ever grouped with dogs from another household regardless of neuter status or sociability. Individual care is not an upgrade tier here; it is simply how the facility works. If you have an intact adult dog or one who does not enjoy other dogs, that difference may matter to both your dog's experience and your bill.

How Woodlands is different

Flat, published pricing

$45 or $65 a night, $25 a day, and that is the price in December as much as in March. No deposit, no minimum stay, no peak surcharge. See rates.

Individual care as standard

Not a premium tier. Every dog is in their own suite and only ever grouped with their own family.

The same person, every stay

Owner operated, so you talk to whoever is caring for your dog rather than a desk. The background.

In St. Marys

No state line, no bridge, three drop‑off windows a day. Directions.
